Ingredients for Success

How it works

Step 1

Diagnostic

Our approach is built on 15+ years of research and experience supporting students. A free, full-length diagnostic exam and proven test-taking methods, not guesswork, show us exactly where your student stands and what will raise their score.

Step 2

Customized plans

Every student gets a plan built around their diagnostic results, test dates, and goals, focused on the content, strategies, and pacing with the most room for improvement.

Step 3

One-on-one instruction

Your student works directly with an experienced instructor who makes real-time adjustments as they go. We start by understanding your student, then adjust to how they learn best.

What to Expect

  • Free diagnostic assessment to identify strengths and gaps
  • One-on-one tutoring sessions in Wellesley or Concord
  • Practice materials and full-length practice tests
  • Progress updates for families throughout the program

Boosts scores on every test

Our specially trained faculty understand the differences between the ACT and the SAT. We’ll evaluate your student’s free diagnostic and help you decide which test is the better fit, or whether to take both. On the ACT, we help students:

  • Master the grammar, punctuation, and style rules the English section tests
  • Work through math problems accurately at the ACT’s faster pace
  • Read passages efficiently and find the evidence behind each answer
  • Interpret charts, graphs, and experiments for the optional science section
  • Build the stamina and pacing needed for the ACT’s tighter time limits
  • Discover time-saving tips and techniques

FAQ

My student learns differently. Can you help?

Yes. Our faculty are trained to adjust lessons to each student’s learning profile, and every plan is built around how your child learns best. Our instructors are specifically trained to support students with ADHD, anxiety and other learning challenges. If organization, focus, or time management are part of what holds your student back, we’ll incorporate our executive function coaching into your student’s session.

Are sessions in person or online?

Most sessions are one-on-one, in person at our Wellesley and Concord learning centers, but we can also offer virtual sessions.

How many sessions will my student need?

It depends on where your student is starting and where they want to land. The diagnostic gives us the answer, and we’ll give you a straightforward recommendation before you commit to anything.

How do you prepare students for the ACT?

Every plan starts with a full-length diagnostic and is built around the individual student, then adjusts as practice-test results come in. We work backward from your student’s test dates and college list, teaching both the content (grammar rules, math concepts, reading strategies) and the test-taking strategy that turns that knowledge into points. From there, we carefully monitor progress through error analysis; we look closely at every missed question to see whether it came from a content gap, a careless error, timing, or a misread, and that review shapes the next session.

How is the ACT different from the SAT?

The ACT covers English, math, and reading, with an optional science section, and is scored from 1 to 36. It generally moves faster and asks more straightforward questions, so pacing matters more. Some students score noticeably higher on one test than the other, which is why we start with a diagnostic.

Should my student take the ACT or the SAT?

Colleges accept either. Our team can evaluate a free diagnostic exam and help you decide which test plays more to your student’s strengths, or whether it makes sense to prep for both.

When should my student start ACT prep?

Many families begin in the spring of sophomore year or the summer before junior year, which leaves room for a diagnostic, steady preparation, and more than one test date. A shorter timeline can still work well; we’ll build the plan around the test dates you’re aiming for.

How much can my student expect to improve?

On average, our students see ACT scores rise more than 6 points, about 3x the industry average, though results vary by student and starting point.
